The Issue

What problem is Fundyes addressing?

Industrial textile dyeing is an incredibly environmentally harmful process that not only requires enormous amounts of water and energy but also pollutes the surrounding waterways with toxic chemicals. In fact, 17 to 20% of industrial water pollution is due to textile dyeing and treatments (LaRose, 2022). And sadly enough, in Indonesia, it has been reported that 35 million people still use the polluted Citarum river as drinking water, leading to increased cancer rates, skin diseases, and developmental issues in children (LaRose, 2022).

The Solution.

Fundyes is a project that proposes a solution to the problem of textile dyeing pollution by offering a form of bioremediation while aiming to introduce mushrooms for yarn dyeing.  You can learn more about FunDyes by clicking read more!
